Pulaski County Unveils Billboard Designs

Pulaski County Tourism Bureau unveiled five new billboard designs the week of April 21, 2014. The new designs include the Pulaski County USA logo, Visitors Center location information, and each design highlights a Pulaski County feature that will interest, and attract, visitors to exit the highway and spend time in our communities. They are located along Missouri Interstate 44 and are visible to both east bound and west bound traffic.

Route 66 Billboard

Pristine segments of alignments from the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s -some with the original curbing- still entice motorists today . Plenty of adventure still awaits those who chose to get their kicks on our Route 66!

Lodging Billboard
Lodging- Pulaski County is centrally located on Interstate 44 and is the midway point between the Illinois State Line and the Oklahoma State Line. Offering more than 1,700 hotel rooms the area is sure to have clean, comfortable lodging for every travelers needs and budget.

Dining Billboard
Dining- Pulaski County is a beacon for the hungry traveler and adventurer. More than 40 options offer German, Greek / Italian, Mexican, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, & American table service restaurants. Even the pickiest of eaters walk away stuffed after stopping in our area for a bite.

Antique Trail Billboard
Antique Trail- The tourism bureau has developed an Antique Trail that winds its way through our scenic Ozark Mountains. The trail is self guided and able to be traveled, and shopped, at your leisure. A free brochure with map and points of interest is available at the Visitors Center, north off Exit 161.

Canoe on the Rivers Billboard
Canoe on the Rivers- Pulaski County’s gentle rivers, the Gasconade and the Big Piney, are a destination for families looking to spend quality time in the great outdoors. Our friendly outfitters will ensure that your float trip is enjoyable and memorable!

Ms. Hood has been working with group travel planners and military reunion coordinators on behalf of Pulaski County Tourism Bureau since 2008. In 2011 Hood completed the American Bus Association’s Certified Travel Industry Specialist Program through Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Upon receiving the Community Supporter of the Quarter she commented “I am very proud, and honored to receive this recognition. I work with United States Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence on a regular basis, and together, we ensure that motor coach tours and military reunions visiting Pulaski County, Missouri have an excellent experience at Fort Leonard Wood. Many tour operators and coordinators have remarked their experiences here have exceeded their expectations and they were blown away by our county’s hospitality and friendliness. I love being the ‘boots on the ground’ for these folks and looking forward to facilitating many, many more military reunions for our country’s greatest asset- our veterans.”

Good Samaritan of the Ozarks- Pulaski County’s Charity of Choice for Fireball Run

During a recent press conference, held April 4, 2014, at Pulaski County Courthouse in Waynesville, MO, Pulaski County Tourism Bureau announced that Good Samaritan of the Ozarks has been designated as the official local charity to benefit from Fireball Run.

Karen Hood, Marketing Relations Manager of the Pulaski County Tourism Bureau said “Fireball Run is well known for philanthropy and supports a non-profit organization in each destination. It was daunting to select a charitable organization with so many worthy causes to choose from in Pulaski County. We chose Good Samaritan of the Ozarks. We know the organization; we know their work; and we know with highest degree of confidence that the contributions will have a direct positive effect on families, women and children of the entire county.”

Founded in 1987, Good Samaritan of the Ozarks is a faith based charitable organization that operates Genesis House, a local battered women’s shelter and local food pantry. Good Samaritan has a long history of providing emergence relief in Pulaski County to those in need, administering programs for underprivileged children and families, programs for needy elderly, and programs for food and gifts at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Danielle Green, Interim Executive Director of Good Samaritan of the Ozarks said that Good Samaritan of the Ozarks is honored to be the charity chosen to represent Pulaski County. Green commented “Anytime we get an opportunity to raise awareness for child victims of domestic violence and talk about our programs we are thrilled. The benefit of being able to do that globally through Fireball Run is astounding! Not to mention, the excitement of a child who realizes people from all over the US provided something special just for them! We cannot tell you how excited we are!”
